Anne is a marine artist with a deep appreciation for the natural world. Based in Tighnabruaich on Argyll's Secret Coast, she has spent many years surrounded by the raw beauty of the West Coast of Scotland, it's wild and rugged coastline and deep sea lochs providing endless inspiration for her work. Anne has worked as an artist for over twenty years, becoming one of Argyll's Secret Coast's recognised marine artists. Her oil, watercolour and pastel paintings can be found in private collections around the world and across Scotland, where she has exhibited widely since 2001.

Anne has worked in various media, including in watercolour and pastels, but now paints predominantly in oil on linen. Linen retains its natural oils, which helps to preserve the fibre's flexibility and stops the canvas from becoming brittle. Strong and durable it is often favoured by professional artists and with a smoother weave is ideal for Anne's style.
There is an escapist element to seascapes that captures Anne's imagination, whether it be tranquil water or stormy seas, you'll find water an ever-present part of Anne's evocative marine art. An animal lover by nature, she has created many paintings in pastels; a medium she particularly favours for close up animal portraits. The wonderful texture of pastels and their ability to blend so beautifully means finished artworks often emanate the same richness and depth as oil paintings.
Anne Hewitt is based in the village of Tighnabruaich, where she has been living and painting out of her studio for over twenty years. As a marine artist on Argyll's Secret Coast, she is well placed to capture the beauty and magic of the surrounding areas.
